I called for a delivery and was very leary about a "pizza place" when I ordered VEAL FRANCEE ---CAPRRESE SALAD --They were both --- FABULOUS --The best I ever had, and I have eaten in some great restaurants. Real tomatoes, right from the garden, melt in your mouth veal. and the chocolate cake was to die for. I am only staying another day or I would move in there. Philadelphia has some great restaurants but this beats them all. I saved one star because I know nothing of their service, or the appearance of the restaurant. BUT FOOD -----WONDERFUL !!!!!

Wonderful meals - large portions - great tastes! Arrived at hotel late on weekday and was looking for carryout or delivery, not pizza nor chinese, and was lucky that hotel staff mentioned this restaurant

Stopped in on a busy Saturday night. A 5 minute wait for a table, 10 minute wait for drinks, 20 minute wait for a great salad and appetizer. Another 25 minute wait for a pizza ( 1 pepperoni, 1 supreme and 1 veggie) Pizza was just like I like them. Thin and crispy. If you know which pizza you want before you sit down you might save a little time. Manager and our waitress were kind and professional. I would go back.

We ate here two nights in a row and enjoyed both meals. Do order desert! Wonderful. Very pleasant experience, food was good.

You HAVE to try the fried calamari! (all rings) It is amazing! I ordered the Eggplant Parmesan, which was far from disappointing! Love this restaurant.

Stopped here on our to Orlando, my daughter wanted Italian. What a wonderful surprise to get great food and service. My daughter had the salmon, I had the clams over linguine, my husband had the marinara over pasta and it was all suburb. The soup of the day was wonderful too. And the owner greeted us on the way out. Right off I-95 so excellent location.

Asked to change my Alfredo Scallop Florentine to remove scallops and add shrimp and mushrooms. It wasn't a problem at all. To make a great experience short, the food and service was outstanding! They are very accommodating and their food is worth the wait. I'd recommend this place to anyone.

One of the few restaurant choices in the burgeoning Murabella/Heritage Landing/World Golf Village area of St. Augustine, this Italian restaurant, features an early bird menu, generous portions on the regular menu, and a sports bar type area in addition to the restaurant. Corey runs a good show when it's his turn to bar tend. A good place fpor pizza and beer on a Friday night!

I love this place! I usually come here for lunch and get the house salad! The house dressing is amazing! I've also indulged in their eggplant parmesan. Also incredibly delicious! Great location next to the St. Augustine outlets! I would skip the food court and come here every day!

Coming from the Washington, DC area, I have eaten at some of the best and most authentic restaurants that America offers. I wanted to box up this restaurant from the chef and staff to the servers and bring it home with me. Their appetizers were delicious and well-portioned. The bruschetta was the table favorite, but ALL disappeared. The homemade house salad dressing was unlike any balsamic vinaigrette that I have enjoyed. My scallops florentine melted in my mouth, and the 17 other guests in my large party responded similarly about their meals, which ranged from pizza to veal piccata. The portions were abundant to the point that nearly all of us ended up taking home a box for some of the entree. If this chef ever wants to cook in DC, he could make it!

If you have food allergies this isn't your place. Or maybe I just dealt with the wrong person. First, I waited at the takeout area while the lady chatted with someone else while I stood there waiting. She finally turned around and acknowledged us. I asked about gluten free. My daughter had Graves' disease and a wheat allergy. It's pretty important that she doesn't eat gluten. I specifically asked about a salad dressing. She said, she thought it was GF. I asked to see the bottle. Since thinking is not actually knowing when it's an important matter. She rolled her eyes so hard(because I'd like to see the ingredients on the bottle). Then passed is off to the very busy cook in the kitchen. She couldn't move her ass to go get it and check ingredients? Was this really so hard? Everyone else seemed to be nice people from what I could see. I will NEVER be back to test it out though. Just nasty behavior!

As a 1'st Gen NY Italian Yankee transplanted due to job here; this is not a good pie! Because there are not enough demanding true Italian People here that are deciding about there Pizza the local population succumbs to like comparing it to Al's Pizza as the Rosetta Stone therefore someone who make a comparison from this local culture thinks this is good. This Pizza and all else here I would not feed to starving Seagulls; all of them suck big time and are selling total crap every day to you that you accept because no one here really knows what really great pizza is. You are far better off buying good frozen pizza here, and save much money Than eat any of this crap in this town; except two places that are very decent even for me that are; Tommy's Pizza on Southside, and Picasso's near Mandarin, there is one other in Riverside Pele's that's good too.

Six of us ate here on a Monday evening just after 7:30. It was very crowded but we were seated very quickly. Our server appeared quickly and provided details about the menu. We ordered drinks then some apps. The bruschetta Italian was very good. Our entrees ranged from chicken picatta, pasta with sausage, veal parmesan, spaghetti and meatballs and chicken scaloppini. All were good and so was the service the entire evening.

I'm from Philly and if are looking for that NE style pizza this is the spot! Cool atmosphere inside with a bar on one side and family seating on the other! Definitely recommend!

Absolutely delicious! This eatery came recommended by the guy at the front desk of our hotel. And wow what a great place! The food is really terrific and there's plenty of it. The servings are large. Service is outstanding and the servers painstakingly take all avenues to make sure their clients are happy. Will definitely remember to stop here again on the way down I-95. And it's very conveniently located off the interstate.

Whatever you do, don't order the chicken Parmesan! The sauce and the breading were terrible. Also beware the chicken quesadilla is made with dark meat. Club was decent. Luckily the server was nice and took off my chicken! Lower than average hotel food at best.

Was looking for dinner while traveling and liked the reviews so we gave it a try. They were pretty busy and the kitchen was small so service was a little slow but our waitress was attentive. My wife had the scallops florentine alfredo and they were perfectly cooked. Wonderful flavor. I had a chicken pasta dish I can't remember the name of but is was very tasty. Rich flavorful sauce. Serving size was large. We had enough left to make another meal at home.

Pizza was good but the owner is always unpleasant and other items on the menu generic and bland although my wife got the soup last night and it was quite good.

There is absolutely no excuse for the rudeness that the manager/bartender and owner display. At some point it's not someone having a bad day. I had boycotted this place for a while because the owner is so rude. He has yelled at his staff in front of our family cursing while doing it. His daughter was on the high school softball team and he proceeded to make insulting comments regarding her weight and physical appearance to us and he didn't even know us. I have friends that have gone in there and complained that he was really rude to them also. The other night I agreed to finally give this place another chance as I was with several people who had been suggesting it for a few months. It was a total nightmare and this time it was the manager/bartender. I have never in my life ever been so mortified by someone's behavior toward a restaurant patron. The bartender basically told us the kitchen was closing and it was not even 8:30 (website says 10pm close) on the first night of NFL and they have tvs in the bar area for people to watch games. He wanted us to be as uncomfortable as possible even though there was no one in the place aside from one family sitting at the bar. He told us we could have 2 tables put together and we had to sit 14 people there. It was enough to comfortably sit 12.. and we had some children we wanted to sit at another table so they could play their video games. He told us no. The waitress came back and told us we could have the extra table for the kids. After 10 minutes of complete and utter rudeness I finally got up and told him we were leaving.. he yelled out something like "good! bye! bye!" as we walked out. The people I was with are very nice people and the unfortunate part is that the waitress is the one who lost out and she was actually pretty nice. I hope she finds a better place to work because I will bad mouth this place to any and everyone who will listen. At some point you have to stand up for what is right and common courtesy. No one should be treated like that by a restaurant owner or manager.

There is nothing I hate worse than to give a business a negative review, but this is one time where it is much deserved! Living in St Augustine my family has eaten at this place several times and the food is OK. The pizza is usually decent, not spectacular, a step above Pizza Hut. Be careful when going there because on several occasions we arrived ready to eat and even though the dining area was empty we were told it is a one hour wait because of take out orders. Well last night (Thursday) was the last straw and why i recommend people to take their business elsewhere. We arrived with a party of 16 people after football practice (5 families) to sit down and get some food. The sign says they are open until 10 pm and we arrived at 8:28. The bartender - manager rudely told me that the kitchen closes in 2 minutes, so hurry up and order. Not the least bit professional about it. I asked why the sign says 10 pm and he again rudely replied, not tonight, hurry up and order! Well, we packed up and left telling him we will take our money elsewhere, and he replied good! This is 5 families in the area that will never give this place another dime. If you want to be treated like crap for average pizza, by all means give them your business! Never again!

Don't let the funky smell when you first walk in chase you off-it goes away fast. I had the spinach roll -large, they used fresh spinach- the crust was nice & thin. Way too much for me to eat. The sauce was too plain. Came out if a can??? The roll was good though-fresh, hot. My friend really liked the Giovanni's pasta! The wine list was extensive! They had 'interesting' beers on draught. Very tiny bar space w TV. I would have rated higher except the funky smell when you first walked in & I thought it being an Italian place the sauce should have flavor. From the crust on the roll I'm betting they have great pizza?! We would go again to try it.

NOT a happy place to dine, NOT an experience we would want to repeat. It was deserted when arrived, and only a few stragglers came in while we were having dinner, and even so, service was slow, or absent, or filled with jerky attitude. The only other table on the dining side were visitors to the Outlet Mall nearby who had starving children in tow but it took several requests for them to get some bread for the kids; after it grudgingly arrived, the exasperated parents asked for a check and left to go to Denny's down the road. I wish we had taken the hint! VERY yesteryear italian frozen food menu items, nothing new or original in the presentation or the bottled sauce flavor. Scary prices for entrees also. Shrimp Fra Diavolo was spongy and linguine mushy! Restaurant is just off I-95 near some interstate motels that provide a captive audience of sorts for this dismal strip mall joint; I truly can't imagine anyone dining here if they weren't stuck in the boonies, away from St. Augustine's better restaurants. With Publix just down the road, visitors would do better by shopping and utilizing the microwaves in their room.

When we ate their the food was simply ok as was the service. We had several menu items, delivered and in the restaurant. It is definitely not New York Italian. I am a New Yorker. However due to location and lack of restaurants that delivered, I appreciated their delivery. It is better than chains. They used to Deliver to my area, 10 minutes from them. They no longer do and that is poor service since it is such a short drive from their establishment. I would patronize their establishment for convenience of delivery but if I am driving to a restaurant, there are much better choices not far away.

What a pleasant surprise! Great food after a day of shopping. You must try the dessert! Though it is a small portion size, it is yummy!

The food is great! however the people working in this place are INCREDIBLY rude, from the owners stern, cold demeanor all the way to the feminine looking male/ toupe hair cut bartender with the attitude. They are not considerate and never smile, and god forbid business is booming that day; they will be even more rude to the customers. Makes me wonder if they even wanna be there or even want people to come back again? Anyways, other than that, most everything is tasty.

My boyfriend and I ate here during a day of shopping at the Outlets. The close proximity and excellent service were the two things to recommend this place. He ordered the lunch Penne alla Vodka, and I ordered the Florentine pizza. For an appetizer, we ordered the fried calamari. The garlic knots were soaked in butter without a hint of garlic. The calamari was hot, but tasted frozen and pre-prepared. The marinara was reminiscent of Chef Boyardee. He also got a Caesar Salad with his meal, which was made with iceberg lettuce instead of romaine, and had croutons which were too salty to think about eating. Our entrees arrived quickly. The pizza crust was crispy, but flavorless. The penne was edible once a bunch of parmesan, red pepper and oregano was added. We would not stop here again.

Great pizza! Giovanni's is a delish Italian spot that this area of town needs. The night that I stopped in, half of the restaurant was being served by the bartender. This kind of put her in the weeds, and seemingly short staffed, the owner was in the back cooking! She was a sweet girl and was on top of her game when she could get around to it. My parents and I are very patient people so a slow server doesn't usually annoy us at all. You've got to love a place where everyone is involved and helping out. If you're from around here, you know there isn't too much to choose from coming off 95, but if you're in the area and you want some great pizza or Italian food (with a full bar) you should stop in!

Without a doubt, one of the best meals we have had many many times. From the moment we walked in, every thing was simply perfect. Service was attentive and accurate, the appetizer was divine, everything about both of our entrées was spot on. For a man not given to hyperbole, I will say, without a doubt, the greatest Alfredo sauce I have ever had. To top it off, the desserts were absolutely delicious.

Let me start with the good points. Very nice place, decorated nicely, big and roomy, very very clean and comfortable. The service was fantastic (it was a Saturday night). Our server could not have been better! The dessert, the homemade tiramisu, was beyond delicious; best I ever tasted! My friend had a glass of wine that she said was good. Now, on to the entree. I ordered pasta in a pink sauce (al a vodka sauce). The pasta was insanely overcooked!! While I do like my pasta al dente, I will settle for it being cooked a little longer. But, this was cooked to mush - to the point where it ruined the flavor of the pasta. The sauce was quite good, tho a little too thick. It came with a nice little salad that was good. It also came with some garlic knots. They had potential, but were horrible. They were UNDERCOOKED! The first batch were barely browned on the top. And, it seemed that they were more in a butter-sauce than just olive oil (it was yellowish). I thought maybe this batch came out too soon. A second batch came out and they were worse -- raw dough on the inside! They were unedible. That all being said, I would go back because it could have just been an off-night; with the pasta being so overcooked (get a timer!). I would give them another try because of the good service and the potential IS there. My suggestion: Cook the pasta MUCH less -- and the garlic knots MUCH more, at least until they are golden and browned on the top. Prices are reasonable (average dish about $12). But, the menu on the website has the wrong prices -- much less than they actually are on the dinner menu. But, the prices were not bad. I will reiterate -- best tiramisu EVER!

I am a New York girl and we pride ourselves on our pizza. The owners of this place are also from New York and I'm telling you the best pizza around. We live in south fl and maybe one good place down there , this one far surpassed any we have been to in quite sometime. We have only had their pizza and I'm telling you the best.

Great neighborhood italian joint. We got roma pizza and it was delicious, super crispy ny style crust and fresh ingredients (tomato basil cheese). Fried zucchini had great coating that was super crispy dark golden, inside was molten tender zucchini that was delicious. House wings were also equally crispy and fried to perfection, came in an olive oil and herb sauce with saute'd onions, new take on a classic. Menu also had all the house favorites around $15, chicken/ veal parmesan, Milanese, picatta ect. Bartender told us it would be great place to watch nfl games, they have Sunday ticket and drink specials. Ill be back again!

Food is always good, I gave it a four out of five because the service we had one time. We ordered three meals and two came at the same time and the third 25minutes later (once out of five or six visits). They make my pasta special for me when I request it and it is really good.

The service was good, and the Chicken Valdostana was tasty. The only problem was their pricing. While the portions were large I feel like the dish should have been $14.99 rather than $17.99.

This restaurant in a hidden gem on the outskirts of St Augustine. We had heard the pizza was good, so four of us shared a small cheese pizza as an appetizer and it was wonderful- New York style with a nice light tomato sauce. Only one of us took advantage of the early bird special- his sausage and peppers were served with plenty of sauce over penne pasta. All entrees are served with choice of soup or salad- garlic knots were heaven in a basket-buttery with chunks of garlic. Servings of menu items are very large-my chicken piccata was light and lemony with plenty of capers, shrimp francese was also very tasty. Meat lasagne was large and very good but could have used more sauce. We were too full for dessert. Eric our server was very knowledgeable and helpful in describing menu items. A full bar is a recent addition. Definitely worth the time it will take to seek out this restaurant-we will be back!

Very good pizza. Fresh ingredients and tasty crust. They have a large Italian menu. Also large (10) draught beer selection. Great service. A must if you are in the area.

I must preface this review by simply stating I only ordered pizza and wings to go, and didn't sit down at a table in the place and order actual food- so please turn to the other reviews for that. I did stop in a few weeks back to grab a couple of pies and an order of wings to take home and watch some football games. Placed the order at the front counter, then decided to sit at the bar and watch some sports and enjoy a beer while I waited. Bar is fairly small, but comfortable, and they had a nice bottled beer selection (no draft at the time I was there). Enjoyed talking with the owner of the place, as we talked about football and sports, and as he was from New York City, it was all about the G-Men. Took a look around and noticed a few folks enjoying themselves, wasn't super busy, but had a few families in. The ambiance was okay, nothing special. Service was good, the owner and the waitress were very friendly and talkative and made sure we were happy. Food was ready in about 15 minutes, and it was good- these folks make a mean pie... chicken wings were also really tasty- not the best I've ever had, but pretty darn good. Looking at the other reviews, the food doesn't seem to knock anybody's socks off, but I can definitely recommend stopping in for some pizza, wings, and a couple of beers, or at the very least call in to pick it up and bring it home. Located right off SR 16, so easy in and out, and the price wasn't bad for the pizzas we got. I will have to stop in sometime to try out the rest of the menu, but for now, I say go with the pizza and wings!

I know I was sitting at the bar, but I didn't even get a menu until the guy at the To Go window noticed me. Another 10 minutes and they hadn't taken a food or drink order yet. Once the crowd thinned out the servers were very attentive, and on the plus side the food here was legit. It's hard to find good Italian food where I live, so it was refreshing to taste it done right while on vacation. So good, in fact, that I didn't leave a scrap of sauce from my stuffed shells and the server brought out the garlic knots she had forgotten after I finished. These knots were soaked in butter and oil and slid down my throat like a desert. I'd be tempted to order a plate of 12 as my entree if I came here again. My other complaint is the standard one I have for all Italian joints in the South - that they didn't have oregano on the table. Luckily I seemed to be the only customer who was interested in using it. Considering the place is just off I-95 and surrounded by fast food joints, this is your optimal choice

First time here. Had the "Early Bird Dinner". Price was right, food was prepared well, service was very good. Decor was basic. House wine and beer were 2 for 1 during the Early Bird.

Calamari is rubbery, no seasoning at all. Eggplant Parmesan is terrible, paper thin eggplant, over cooked breaking.

    (1)
  • Jason Z.

Price: Overpriced for the quality of the food. Service: The waiter was prompt and cordial. Drink was never empty. No complaints. Food: Bread appeared to be freshly made but unfortunately tasteless, no flavor and slathered with butter. Caesar Salad was very plain; boxed croutons, factory-made caesar dressing, and the grated parmesan they offer for their dishes. Fried Calamari was for the most part cooked well, good texture not overcooked and chewy. The batter was bland as well as the homemade marinara sauce which tasted like canned tomato sauce Eggplant Parmigiana was also bland. It had an overwhelming taste of fried batter and I could barely taste the eggplant. It was also slathered in their home-made marinara which covered the taste of the dish all together. I'll give it to them, they give large portions. However, large portions of bland food does not really make an impact. Overall, service was good but overpriced bland food ultimately lead me to give a rating of 2 stars.

Good Lord was the food good. The Cypress Salad was amazing with family recipe balsamic vinegar and home made mozerella. The pizza was delicious. We also ordered the home made tiramisus, one traditional the other was like strawberry shortcake. Both were fantastic. One of the owners came out to talk with us, was super friendly, and shared a secret to releasing the bitterness from eggplant. You wouldn't think something so close to the outlets would have this high quality cusisine, it should have white table cloths it's so good.

Can't tell you if the food is any good. We waited 65 minutes for our pizza on a Saturday night before we gave up. The owner/manager was reluctant to talk to us and only came over when we got up to leave. He apologized insincerely and explained that we had been "misinformed." Apparently, we "should have been told when we ordered the pizza that it would take at least 45 minutes." Ridiculous. This restaurant clearly has kitchen, waitstaff, and management problems. Sorry we wasted an evening here.

This is our favorite place to grab some food and bring it up for a "date night in". It's close to home and the chicken parm is pretty tasty. If you've not been in a while, they recently doubled their space with a large full bar area and multiple HD TVs. This space makes for a great spot to grab some drinks and a pizza for a game.

I am giving them 3 out of 5 because we have really enjoyed the FOOD here 2 times in the past week. HOWEVER.... The service is horrible! We sat at the bar the past 2 times, but tonight was the WORST! The pregnant young lady bartender was more worried the whole night about stacking & cleaning dirty glasses & menus than our order or empty glass. She was the worst server/ bartender EVER!!! And actually did not seem to care what we thought or cared about HER! We may give it another try - table service - because the FOOD is really good, but.................. Owners get new bartenders!! I ordered angel hair Nicola after my server warned me that the chicken Giovanni was very fiilling. She suggested adding chicken or shrimp, which I did. The portion size was perfect. The house salad was rather ordinary, which is the reason for the four star rating instead of five. Service was attentive and personal.

Can't recommend this place. Read reviews about great pizza, but we were here on a Friday evening (7:00), and were told that the kitchen oven was backed up so pizza or anything baked would be a 45 minute wait. So we ordered shrimp fra diavolo with linguine; sauce was like plain canned pizza sauce with hot pepper flakes :-(. The server was sweet but couldn't make up for the kitchen's shortcomings. Owner/manager never stopped by our table.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
